Since its establishment in 1972 WCDG has:
Helped support and sustain the residential community e.g. campaigned
to save and establish affordable housing including council and
co-operative housing.
Campaigned
to save and establish local facilities e.g. North Lambeth Library,
Bernie Spain Family Resource Centre, Waterloo Action Centre.
Campaigned
to save, improve and enlarge public open space e.g. Jubilee Gardens,
Archbishops Park, Hatfields Open Space.
Started
new community projects e.g. the Waterloo Millennium Green and
Play spaces.
Established
and supported local groups e.g. Association of Waterloo Groups,
Tenants and Residents associations, the Bus Garage group, Friends
of Jubilee Gardens, Friends of Archbishops park.

Secured
an improved local environment e.g. street tree planting, new paving,
new and improved ground level pedestrian crossings.
Represented
local views at Public Inquiries and Parliamentary Select Committees
e.g. County Hall roundabout, Channel Tunnel Terminal, Shell Centre,
Imperial War Museum, bus garage.
Helped
hundreds of local residents to have their say about local plans
(e.g. the Unitary Development Plan) and development proposals.
Obtained
funding for the local area e.g. for the Millennium Green.
