Agenda
1) Apologies and introductions
2) Minutes of previous meetings
3) Matters arising
4)A New Corner for Waterloo?—Gary Burns, The Estate Office/ EPR Architects/ Hoxton Hotels
In 2007 the owner of the sites around the corner of Waterloo Rd and Baylis Rd—including the Boookcase, Da Vinci, The Fire Station, William Hill, and an office block behind—proposed a 30-storey tower, but received a very critical response and withdrew their proposals. They are now proposing a 150-room boutique hotel, with restaurants and shops at ground floor. What do you think?
5) Another view of Tall Buildings—Michael Ball
Around 2000 planning policy started encouraging tall buildings as a means to achieving ‘Urban Renaissance’. At least 50 proposals have come forward, but only a handful have been built. Is the policy working? No systematic analysis has been undertaken by the planners—so WCDG has been doing some research which will be presented to the London Plan Examination this summer.
6) Any Other Business
